- Surgical Loupes – Each resident receives custom loupes fully paid for by the Department of Orthopedic Surgery
- PGY1-5 receive an education stipend each year to help offset the costs of board examination, personal lead aprons, lead glasses, specialty courses, textbooks, or other educational expenses
- Residents are sent to extramural courses each year
- Breakfast – the department provides light breakfast for weekly Wednesday morning didactic sections
- UChicago Medicine Orthopedic Surgery apparel – the department organizes embroidered apparel sales at a substantially reduced cost
- Extracurricular events – various activities throughout the year are organized and funded by the department to encourage collegiality amongst all members of the department. Previous outings include: paintball, axe throwing, whirleyball, specialty dinners with visiting professors, and beyond
