Fourth Year Elective in Orthopaedic Surgery

The student will become an active member of at least two Orthopaedic subspecialty services during their one-month rotation and will share the responsibility for the pre and post-operative care of patients, outpatient clinic visits, as well as assisting in surgery. The student will participate in morning rounds, conferences, and medical student specific conferences while on this Orthopaedic rotation. Students will also participate in day- and night-call to round-out their clinical experience. Students will interact with residents and faculty as a functioning member of the patient care team. This course, named ORTH 35000: Advanced Orthopaedic Surgery, is for fourth year students who choose Orthopaedics as a career.

Applications for July 1 through November 30 are processed beginning May 1 of the current academic year. 

2023-24 Rotation Dates

Fourth year electives are scheduled as month-long rotations. Rotation dates are fixed with a scheduled orientation taking place on the first day of each rotation.
