Welcome to the Department of Orthopedic Surgery and Rehabilitation Medicine at The University of Chicago

I am thrilled to introduce you to the world-class orthopaedic and musculoskeletal care, education, and research taking place at The University of Chicago. I am incredibly proud of the dedication, expertise, and innovation that define our department.

Our commitment to excellence drives our clinical work as we provide the very highest quality care for patients with a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions. With a patient-centered approach that combines compassionate care with the latest advancements in orthopedic surgery, our highly skilled surgeons specialize in providing our patients with treatment that meets their unique needs and goals. The Department of Orthopedic Surgery is experiencing exciting growth in our clinical practice and our practice locations ensuring our patients have access to the most advanced and comprehensive care close to home.

We are deeply committed to training the next generation of orthopedic leaders. Our residency program is among the best in the nation, attracting talented medical students from across the country. Our residents receive comprehensive training in all aspects of orthopedic surgery, mentored by experienced and dedicated faculty. We have prestigious fellowships in musculoskeletal oncology, hand surgery, arthroplasty, and orthopaedic sports medicine. Our residents and fellows emerge from our programs prepared to excel in any practice setting and make meaningful contributions to the field.

A strong commitment to research both in the clinical and basic realms allows our clinicians and research teams to embrace curiosity and seek to answer questions within multiple areas of orthopaedic science. While our clinical research teams seek to improve clinical outcomes for patients with musculoskeletal conditions, our basic science teams are working to unlock musculoskeletal disease at molecular level.

As we look to the future, we are excited about the opportunities that lie ahead. We are dedicated to providing our patients with the best possible care, training the next generation of surgeons and leaders, and pushing the boundaries of knowledge through innovative research. We invite you to learn more about the exceptional work being done in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery and Rehabilitation Medicine at The University of Chicago.
